Frequently Asked Questions

Most of the technical issues (can’t see or hear clearly etc.) are likely to be happening on your end, so we suggest you:

  • check your internet connection (plug directly into your modem using an ethernet cable or boot people in your house off streaming/gaming devices)
  • refresh your screen (click the blue refresh button in your browser bar)

You can access most areas of the DSMusic website without creating an account. However, you will need to create an account if you wish to:
1. Purchase any products via the DSMusic website;
2. Register any products you have purchased;
3. Access any digital resources relevant to any teacher books you own;
4. Download any digital products e.g. eBooks, PDFs, MP3 files etc.

  1. Click on “SIGN IN / JOIN” in the top right hand corner of the home page;
  2. Click “CREATE AN ACCOUNT” under “NEW HERE?” then complete all questions asked on the to create “CREATE AN ACCOUNT” page;
  3. Once you have completed that page click “Submit ” at the bottom of the screen;
  4. Once you have created your account you will see “ACCOUNT” towards the top right hand corner of the home page (where “SIGN IN / JOIN” was before)

Your unique access code is located in the bottom right corner of the title page of your print copy or on the back of your access card under a scratch off panel.

Teachers and school staff can purchase items from the DSMusic Shop using a school order number at the checkout page. Once the order has been received an invoice will be generated for the school to pay and the product(s) will be emailed to you and/or you will be able to download any digital products you have purchased.

1. Log into your account on the DSMusic website;
2. Click on “MY ACCOUNT” at the top right of the website home page and then click “MY DOWNLOADS” from the left-hand menu;
3. In the “Enter Access Code” box, type in the 8 digit unique access number from the bottom right hand corner of the title page;
4. Click the “Submit” button to register the book;
5. Scroll down your list of owned books and click “PDF” in the right hand column beside the title of the book you require;
6. Save the PDF onto your computer and enjoy!

 

Some DSMusic products come with access to the relevant Digital Resources.

1. Log into your account on the DSMusic website;
2. Click on “MY ACCOUNT” at the top right of the website home page and then click “MY DOWNLOADS” from the left-hand menu;
3. Scroll down to find the relevant book and under the Resources column to the right you will see a link saying “RESOURCES”.
4. Click this link to be taken to the Digital Resource page relevant to the Teacher book you own.

Alternatively:
Once you are logged into the DSMusic website click the “Resources” tab in the top menu across the home page and choose “Lower Secondary Resources” if you own Level 1, “Middle Secondary Resources” if you own Level 2 and “Upper Secondary Resources” if you own Level 3 to open the Digital Resources page.

 

1. Log into your account on the DSMusic website;
2. Click on “MY ACCOUNT” at the top right of the website home page and then click “MY DOWNLOADS” from the left-hand menu;
3. Scroll down your list to the owned MP3 files or books that come with MP3 files (Level 3 Teacher and Elite Student only) that you require and click “MP3” in the right hand column;
4. Save the MP3 files onto your computer and enjoy!

Once your purchase of a digital product has been processed you will receive an email with the links to download these products within it.
Alternatively, once you own a Deborah Smith Music digital only product you can download this by following these steps:

1. Log into your account on the DSMusic website;
2. Click on “MY ACCOUNT” at the top right of the website home page and then click “MY DOWNLOADS” from the left-hand menu;
3. Scroll down to your list of owned downloads and click on the link in the “Download” column (far right) beside the PDF you need. This will take you to a secure download page, where you click the link provided and  then save the file(s) onto your computer.

 

Once you own one of the Deborah Smith Music Practice Examinations or Practice SACs you can download any PDFs that are part of that product (e.g. the Teacher Information booklet or student paper) by following these steps:

1. Click on “MY ACCOUNT” at the top right of the website home page and then click “MY DOWNLOADS” from the left-hand menu;
2. Scroll down to your list of owned downloads and click on the link in the “Download” column (far right) beside the PDF you need
3. Save the file onto your computer and enjoy!

 

All audio files and hyperlinks required for DSMusic Practice Examinations or Practice SACs are embedded in the teacher PDF in the relevant places. The instructions for how to access these audio files can be found in the teacher information booklet under the heading “Audio Material Instructions”. This includes instructions on how to access Audio files for Section A and how to download audio files for Section B if required.

The VCE Music Performance Practice Exams for Units 1, 2 and 4 and the VCE Music Performance Unit 3 Sample SAC are online (digital only) products and as such can ONLY be purchased directly from DSMusic Shop on the DSMusic Website.
You can use a school order number, PayPal or Direct Debit at checkout and you will have access to the product downloads as soon as the order has been processed (immediately if paid with PayPal, usually within 24 hours for school order number purchases and when the are received by DSMusic for direct debit payments).

The PRINT + DIGITAL version can be purchased directly from https://dsmusic.com.au/product/decoding-sound/ or from your favourite bookseller or music store. The DIGITAL version can be purchased as a direct download from https://dsmusic.com.au/product/decoding-sound/ or as an access card with a unique code from your favourite bookseller.

1. Full colour, 148 page, print book – write your answers directly into the book;
2. Full colour, 148 page, downloadable, fillable, interactive PDF for use on all digital devices – type your answers directly into the PDF;
3. All music examples embedded in PDF as live audio links;
4. Access to the Decoding Sound Digital Resource Library (introductory offer with 1st Edition) including sample answers, templates, charts, tables and much more!

1. Full colour, 148 page, downloadable, fillable, interactive PDF for use on all digital devices – type your answers directly into the PDF.
2. All music examples embedded in PDF as live audio links.

If you have bought a second hand book but would like to access the digital products that came with the new version email Deb with your name, the title of the book and the unique access number in the book. It will cost $10 for you to activate these digital resources again.

Webinar ticket purchases include access to the “Webinar – Replay & Resources Pack” for the chosen webinar. This separate product is automatically added to the ticket holder’s account.

Once the webinar has concluded, the ticket holder can access the Video Replay and any other Resources that come in the pack by logging into their DSMusic account (or creating a new account if they do not already have one) and the Webinar Replay and Resources Pack will be listed  at the bottom of the list of any other owned DSMusic products.

Click the underlined  Replay and Resources Pack and this will take you to a page hosting this video and resources.

Once a webinar has concluded,  a “Webinar – Replay & Resources Pack” for this webinar will be available as a separate product from the DSMusic shop.

The purchaser can then access the Video Replay and any other Resources that come in the pack by logging into their DSMusic account and the Webinar Replay and Resources Pack will be listed  at the bottom of the list of any other owned DSMusic products.

To get the most out of your DSMusic Webinar experience, we recommend you:

  • make sure you’ve downloaded and/or updated Zoom on your desktop or device beforehand
  • check that your internet connection is strong
    • connect to your modem or router using an ethernet cable if possible as wireless connection can sometimes offer fuzzy or blurry video
    • politely boot other people in your house off the internet during the time of the webinar (to strengthen the connection for streaming)
    • close all other apps/programs running on your desktop or device

To get the most out of your DSMusic Webinar experience, we recommend you:

  • interact where requested
    • access the chat and/or Q&A icons on your toolbar
  • get the best view of all the good things
    • switch between full screen (click on the screen icon in top right corner)
    • select active speaker view (top right corner) not gallery view!
